The short version
- No account required — ever.

- No tracking cookies. No advertising cookies.
- No third-party advertising networks.
- Your streak and preferences stay on your own device.
The full policy below explains everything in detail. If anything in this document conflicts with the summary above, the full policy governs.
1. Who We Are
Coders Lingo (accessible at coderslingo.com) is a free educational platform providing English language learning resources for IT professionals. This privacy policy explains how the site handles information in relation to visitors.
For questions about this policy or data-related requests, please use the contact page.
2. What Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide
Coders Lingo has no registration, login, or account system. You do not submit a name, email address, password, or any other personal information to use the site. There are no forms on the site that collect personal information except the contact form described below.
2.2 Contact form
If you use the contact page to submit a question, error report, or suggestion, the message and any email address you voluntarily provide are used solely to respond to your enquiry. This information is not used for marketing, not shared with third parties, and not retained beyond the purpose of the correspondence.
2.3 Analytics
We use privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics to understand aggregate patterns: which content categories are most used, which learning paths are popular, and which exercises have high error rates (indicating a need for review or improvement). This data is aggregate and statistical — it does not identify individuals, does not store IP addresses in a personally identifiable form, and does not use cookies or persistent tracking identifiers.
The purpose is strictly to improve the educational content: if a particular exercise category shows low engagement, we investigate whether the content is unclear or the topic needs expansion.
2.4 Browser-local storage
The following data is stored in your browser's localStorage on your device only — it is never transmitted to our servers:
- Daily streak counter — the number of consecutive days you have engaged with exercises, used to motivate continued practice.
- Theme preference — light or dark mode, so your preference persists between visits.
- Exercise progress indicators — which exercises you have completed in the current session, used to avoid immediately repeating exercises.
You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data for coderslingo.com. We have no access to this data and cannot recover it if cleared.
2.5 Service worker and offline cache
Coders Lingo is a Progressive Web App (PWA). A service worker caches pages and assets on your device so the site works offline. This cache contains static page content only — no personal data. It is stored on your device and is cleared when you clear your browser cache.
3. Cookies
Coders Lingo does not use tracking cookies. Coders Lingo does not use advertising cookies. Coders Lingo does not use session cookies that identify you across visits.
As noted above, we use localStorage (not cookies) to store your streak and theme preference. localStorage is a browser-native storage mechanism that does not transmit data to servers with every request, unlike cookies.
No cookie consent banner is shown because there are no cookies requiring consent under applicable regulations.
4. Third-Party Services
Coders Lingo loads resources from the following third-party services:
Google Fonts
Font files used for the site's typography are loaded from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser requests these fonts, Google's servers receive your IP address as part of the standard HTTP request. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We have no control over or access to data collected by Google in this context.
There are no third-party advertising networks, no social media tracking pixels, no affiliate tracking scripts, and no embedded third-party analytics that track individuals across sites.
5. Data Security
Because Coders Lingo does not collect or store personal information on its servers, the attack surface for a data breach is minimal. The site is served over HTTPS, ensuring that the connection between your browser and our servers is encrypted. Static assets are served via a global CDN with standard web security headers in place.
The data stored in your browser's localStorage is subject to your device's own security. We recommend keeping your operating system and browser up to date as a general security practice.
6. Your Rights
Under applicable data protection law (including the UK GDPR and EU GDPR), you have rights in relation to personal data held about you. Because Coders Lingo does not collect or store personal information, these rights have limited practical application in this context — but they still apply:
Right of access
You may request confirmation of whether we hold personal data about you and, if so, a copy of it. In the normal course of using the site, we hold none. If you submitted a contact form enquiry, we hold only the information you provided in that message.
Right to erasure
You may request deletion of any personal data we hold. For contact form correspondence, submit a deletion request via the contact page and we will delete the correspondence within 14 days.
Right to object
You have the right to object to processing of your personal data. Given the minimal data we collect, this right is primarily relevant to contact form correspondence. Contact us to exercise this right.
Local data
Data stored in your browser (streak, preferences, progress) is entirely under your control. Clear it at any time via your browser's storage settings for coderslingo.com. We cannot access or recover this data.
To exercise any of these rights or to raise a concern, contact us via the contact page. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are in the UK and believe we have not handled a concern satisfactorily, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. If you are in the EU, you may contact the supervisory authority in your member state.
7. Children
Coders Lingo is designed for adult IT professionals and those preparing to enter the IT industry. The site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information via the contact form, please contact us so we can delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We will update this page if our data practices change. The date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last revised. Changes that materially affect how we handle personal data will be noted with a brief summary of what changed.
We do not send policy update notifications by email because we do not hold email addresses for the purposes of marketing communication. Periodic visitors who wish to stay informed are welcome to bookmark this page.
